Choosing Your Peg
Straight Pegs
Our standard straight pegs are turned 0.005" to 0.010" over their nominal size to create a tight, reliable fit. Because drill bit diameters can vary more than most people expect, we recommend waiting to drill your holes until you have the pegs in hand and can confirm their actual size. This helps avoid guesswork and ensures the fit you’re after.
Straight pegs are available with two chamfer options:
- Single chamfer (60°)
- Double chamfer (45°)
The choice is largely personal. Double chamfers are commonly used when both ends of the peg will be visible, offering a more finished look from either side.
Tapered and Drawbore Pegs
For situations that benefit from a little forgiveness, we offer tapered and drawbore pegs. These are turned 1/64" over on the large end and 1/64" under on the small end relative to the nominal size. The taper allows the peg to seat snugly while accommodating slightly wider drill bit tolerances.
Drawbores have a longer point compared to tapers, as shown in the image below.
